Grant Dabb DipOpt, CertOcPharm, FACBO is a Behavioural Optometrist who has been in practice for 30 years.
His major interest is children’s vision and in particular visually related learning difficulties. He works however with people of all ages to manage functional problems such as focusing, tracking and lazy eyes; and has a special interest in resolving the effects of stroke and brain injuries on visual function.
As a behavioural optometrist, Grant carefully assesses all of the elements of vision - structure, function and perception - related to the persons presenting problem. He diagnoses where the problems lie and offers solutions to develop efficient visual functioning and visual information processing.
This may include carefully prescribed lenses and prisms where indicated, and/or vision therapy to develop a visual system that is comfortable, efficient and resilient to the effects of stress on performance and learning – a key factor in the modern work and learning environments
Grant is a Member of the NZ Association of Optometrists, and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists. He regularly participates in continuing education in all aspects of optometry, and is involved in providing vision care in the Special Olympics movement
